My E61 M5 has started to show multiple faults almost as soon as starting. DSC inactive, start assistant inactive, dynamic damper control inactive and tyre pressure control inactive. Two weeks and now almost constant.

Anyone had similar? Had a 'get lost' more or less from my local dealer despite (or perhaps because) of the AUC warranty. If it's a recognised fault I want to be prepared when I approach another main dealer.

Thanks

Normally I'd suggest it might be a wheel speed sensor, but you really need to get the codes read.

For the last month mine has been displaying DSC, DBC and Start failures.

To start turning it off and restarting usually cleared them, but last week they failed to clear after numerous attempts.

I had a 150 mile drive with reduce power, but after 70 miles I had to get some fuel and after filling up the messages cleared themselves.

I rang the dealer to book it in and he gave me some rubbish about them clearing up themselves. I asked them to have a look and they said we can fit you in next week they needed a specific machine?

So I dropped it off this morning and all the messages were on display when I gave them the keys! They said they'd ring me this evening but I have not had a call yet!

I'll post the reply when I have it.

That's a whole lot of codes. Has the battery been disconnected recently? BMW reckon you should never fully power down an M5. I know from experience that the E61 wiring is also a bit shady so might be shorting out in the roof lining.

Got a message from the dealer, a pair of throttle bodies have been ordered and are on route to the dealer, they are fitting them tomorrow. Not what I expected, thought it would be a sensor of some description!

I had this on my Z4M and it was the steering angle sensor that needed resetting.

Either the parts did not arrive or they did not fix the problem...No contact from the dealer today!

Probably a big job to be fair. Tomorrow should bring news.

All done, repaired under warranty. 2 x New Throttle Bodies and lots of labour = no more warning lights...
