Federal 595s on an E46 M3
Discussion

Has anyone on here tried them?
They get good reviews when compared to 888s and similar on other pages and sites, however I'd be keen to know if anyone has a set on their M3.
My M3 is more and more a weekend fun car, and these look like excellent value when compared to 888 style road / track tyres ..... I'm interested to know if half the price mean half the longevity, for one, and how they perform compared to a standard road boot, or a track day tyre.
This is an open invitation to all to comment, and I look forward to filtering the "If it isn't a Michelin costing the price of a family runaround, then I ain't listening" replies out

I've used 595's at the front my ZT (blame the previous owner) and they were surprisingly good for a budget tyre.
Certainly not as much grip as my usual FK452's (so I highly doubt they compete with 888s!) in the dry, and i'd expect it to be worse in the wet.
Were also quit noisy and tramlined a *lot* more than the FK452's.

Don't do it!!!
I have 595's on my 120D M Sport after reading positive things about them... My opinion is FK452's are far superior in dry & wet conditions. 452's are still the best budget tyre available IMHO
I find the 595 awful in the wet and just average in the dry. I find the sidewalls are quite soft too which means handling has lost some precision.
I do not rate the 595's at all... Am actually working hard to wear them out ASAP to justify spending £500 on some decent boots.

another vote for fk452s best price/performance balance bar none. camskill usually cheapest.
Thanks guys. I'm running FK452s at the moment, and really rate them highly. I'm running a 235/40 on the front, and a 265/35 on the rear (my car is on 18" wheels). I've really gelled with this combination, and its a perfect combo for the road and occasional track use.My use is shifting slightly more towards track use, however its still a road car at the end of the day ..... maybe I'd be better off sticking with the balance I've found, and save the extreme tyres and track dedication for my project toy in the garage

Big diference between the 595 RS or its replacement the RSR & the regular 595.
The RS/RSR is an R rated tyre in the 888/A048/Do1j/V70a/MPCS etc vein, I run RS on e36M3 track car & also 328i track car & rate then highly, not quite 888 grip but not far off & with a lot more tread as new 7-8mm vs 888 & others that come with 5mm & a lot cheaper new.
No idea on the road version 595 tho, are better choices I feel.

Hi
I very highly rate the Federal 595's due to their excellent useful life. Federal are a middle to premium brand tyre in other markets of the world so they're not a 'cheapo' company as sometimes perceived. I have a set on my E39 530d and with 4/5mm left I've covered in excess of 20,000 miles over the last 2 years or so I've had them! for that reason alone I'm more than happy as it seems I have at least another 10-15K miles left ! I haven't found them lacking in other areas - so dry/wet and noise issues - I've been fine with them, and at the time I bought them, were a little cheaper than Falken. I'm on 19 inch sizing too.
the Falkens do rate highly as well, and sometimes rate low, just like what the trend is for these Federals. Some bemoan that their Falkens have only lasted 12-15K miles for instance, so for me, i'd have had to spend another £450 or so a few months ago - I'm set for around double the useful life, which translates into half price compared to Falkens !
The Federal's aren't really the right tyre for an M3. It does however, depend on your driving style. If you are one of those who hardly ever uses the power and performance of an M3, then consider the 595's as you'll probably not need to change the tyres for 3 years or so (going by my experience here!) and they'll perform more than adequately in this usage.
If you do use the performance regularly, then consider the correct tyres which match that type of performance.
Cheers, Dennis!
