Having just acquired an E92 M3, with adaptive xenons and having a road trip to France planned in a few weeks ... What can I do to have the headlights adjusted for Euro driving ?

Google results suggest that stickers are unsuitable due to the adaptive xenons.

I have looked through the manual and there is nothing mentioned about this.

I had asked the dealership, and he mentioned something about having to have the service people adjust something electronically.

Can anyone shed any light on this situation ?
Thanks.

Yes, I believe thats right.

If you're not driving at night though I wouldn't bother.

Having asked the exact same question when my own 2010 (10 plate) E92 was recently in for a routine s/w upgrade, I was advised that more recent models (my own included) have horizontal beams now such that adjustment to remove the 'peak' on the UK nearside is no longer necessary for continental driving. The service rep held a card in front of the dipped beam to demonstrate the point. I haven't been able to find anything written anywhere to corroborate the suggestion, mind, but the deomnstration made it look plausible.

Not sure what difference the adaptive headlights make, but I had to adjust mine manually for France last year.

It involves taking the black plastic cover off the top of the headlight unit.

On mine the two headlights are slightly different, but drivers side has a white plastic rocking plate, which rocks back or forward. Forward for Continent, back again for UK.

The nearside has a very small and hard to reach metal lug about 6 inches down. This needs to be pulled up for continent and back down for UK.

I cut a piece of coat hanger about 8 inches long with a 90 deg hook about half an inch long and used this to get at it.

This works a treat.

Adaptive headlamps on my E91 require foils (stickers) at a cost of approx £50.00 from your friendly stealer.

Very simply, they go on the front of the headlamp and block out all the bloody light!!

Got tugged recently on the France/Spain border for driving in the middle of the night with fogs on. After much gesticulating, I showed the cop how bugger-all light was comming from the headlamp units and he let me off, phew.

Could well be different on an E92, but word of warning - not many dealers stock the foils and I always pre-order.

Talked to Carrs (Bury St Edmunds) - today.

The service dept person said that as long as I put the headlights on manually (and not leave them on auto) the beam will be flat and needs no other modification or adjustment.
