Rarely see them for sale wondered if anyone knew how many UK cars were delivered in that colour?

A bit misleading though.
I have an Imola red and I stand to be corrected but thats the only red they did in an E39 M5.
As for blues there are at least 4. I had an Avus blue one, mate had a silverstone blue (just looked like an offish silver to me), and there was a Le Mans blue, and individual Estoril blue.

Wow, 34 is a very low number! Thanks for your post.

I am also aware of the 4 blues mentioned. Le Mans blue being my favourite. I love Estoril Blue but that's an 'E36 colour' for me.

They did a metallic red as well, I think it was Royal red on the early cars then they changed it on the facelift cars, can't remember what the later shade was called.

I went to view an Imola red M5 that was crash damaged with a view to putting it back on the road. I probably would have bought it, but it sold before I did.

Must admit, I wasn't sure on the colour before viewing, but when I saw it in the flesh, I fell in love! It had the black and red leather too, which looked great IMO!

I am in an elite club then, that being an owner of said Imola Red M5!

Its a colour that you have to see in the flesh to appreciate, I have no end of comments on how great she looks!

Had mine for 5 years now, 120K and still running like a dream.

One thing I wont do is add up all the bills (don't want to get too scared).

The again fingers crossed and touching all the wood I can find, I have had no majour issues at all.

The most she has cost me was for a clutch £1.5K!!

Don't get me wrong the running costs are as you would expect for a £60,000 car, those never go down. Tyres, pads, discs etc.

Great fun though, I use as a daily driver and put 15-20K miles on a year

I know where the Yellow one is located, the same guy has had it years and it certainly looks 'different'!

It's even worse than it sounds.

If there is indeed only one yellow E39 M5, then I remember it being advertised on the approved used car website around five years or so ago when I was looking for mine.

It's in Dakar yellow (the old E36 M3 colour), and as if that wasn't bad enough it had Dakar yellow inserts on the seats and door cards, Dakar yellow stiching on the edge of the seats, Dakar yellow gear lever and handbrake gaiters, and a Dakar yellow steering wheel.

I don't know what dealer supplied it originally, but if I owned a BMW dealership and someone came in trying to spec something like that, I'd throw them out.

That sounds god awful... but I would still like to see it!

Steve your Imola Red M5 looks utterly fantastic.
