Have just read the e92 remap topic and just wanted to know if anyone's had their e60 remapped by evolve or dms?
Just had new haward and scott exhaust put on so fancy a bit of a cheeky power upgrade to go with.
Don't want to start another bhing session just after some advice lol.

You can only expect minimal gains when mapping the M5. They are pretty well tuned as standard. The only benefits of a map (even with exhaust) is improved drivability and a smoother torque curve. The actual peak gains are very very small. Delimit is nice if you ever get chance to use it. Any vid of the H&S exhaust on the V10? I considered one for my E61 M5.

ok eddie cheers for the advice might have one done anyway for the torque mainly. AS you know from yours would be nice not to have to change down as much. I've got a couple of vids mate ill stick them on here over the weekend.
IMO makes it sound alomst ferrari/carrera gt ish. Lovely noise on trottle but suprisingly quite on motorway and start up.

DMS are claiming a 40 hp increase with their remap which sounds alot but based on my previous experience with them, entirely realistic.

Dont know how much you'd notice it on the open road though?

ps Ive got the Haywood & Scott exhaust on my E61...sounds epic and looks amazing with the titanium tipped pipes! smile

Hi guys

Firstly apologies for the dumb question i'm about to post but i've never done this before!

I own a M5 E60 57 plate and love it. I'm now thinking of upgrading the exhausts for Haywood & Scott but wondered how it affects your warranty (i have the BMW used car warranty). Also who can do the fitting - presume you have to go independents?

Cheers

Never understood the reason to change the exhaust on the V10 models since they sound perfect out of the box.

Remap wise Evolve do a 25BHP increse which will make it stronger just about everywhere. You will notice a difference because they calibrate/optimize stuff properly.

Yep, I would say the Hayward & Scott is a downgrade not an upgrade. Its not all about volume, its about quality.

As far as im aware the H&S system is a custom jobbie and not an off-the-shelf product. I was warned that it might be a downgrade rather than an upgrade back in Jan when i made my enquiries. 'Too cheap to be any good' they said. Can anyone with the H&S on an E60 / 61 shed any light ref the quality?

Get some vids and pics up of the E61 fit please mate.

I'll see if I can get a vid and some pics up this weekend but I can honestly say its not a downgrade in any shape or form nono

Its certainly not loud or boomey like some (no resonance at any rpm) and gets rid of the horrible 'bag of spanners'/diesel-esc clatter at idle.

As for sound quality, I'd liken it to a factory Gallardo exhaust and very similar sounding to the Aston Martin Works sports exhaust that was on my old DB7 V12 Vantage, so praise indeed.

It was on the car when I bought it so cant comment on fit, but the finish looks pretty special with quad titanium tips and polished back boxes if you look underneathsmile

To me it looks more subtle than the standard exhaust due to the blued tips and finishes the car nicely.

Thumbs up from me! driving

Sounds good to me. I look forward to seeing it and hearing it. If you ever fancy selling it please give me a buzz.

DMS and Tubi on t'6; tbh, I couldn't notice any power gains because the call to Roberto's emporium was made within hours of Größ Sechs assimilation.

Sonically it's in The County of Gallardo whilst ito horizon haul and kesselslauten, it's in the territory of you're a naughty boy, Fawlty; don't do it again. Fwiw and following many years experimentation with empirical info gathering re double tonnitus, I'm inclined to roll broadly in synch with their power claims.

I'd love to hear a tubi in person on an M6. Youtool doesn't portray exhausts very well.

I'd say DMS all the way, they worked on mine really well and kept going deep into the night until they were satisfied they had the best tune they could get. They don;t download standard sftware they map each car indivudually. If they don;t gains you're not happy with, they don;t charge. MORE importantly once they have mapped they keep the data and whenever BMW overwrite it DMS reinstall free of charge.

As far as exhausts go you won;t get better than Supersprint, in quality or performance. Also as far as I know they are only company that make right hand drive headers for the E60 M5 and get serious BHP gains from them. OK, not the cheapest out there but the sound is NOT over top, it sounds AMAZING and is still track legal around the country combined with signifcant power gains it should be the only choice really! I'm sure a few of you here have heard the SS system on mine?

Hayward and Scoot are a funny one. They are well made, but you can specify how loud you want them.... Be wanrned as they can be made very loud.

Have to agree that Supersprint are probably the best you can get. Got an X-Pipe on my CSL and it sounds amazing!

I have a tubi system on my E60 M5 and it sounds epic. The sheer quantity of volume it is capable of producing, especially in a confined space, if you gun it, is truly of vulgar proportions. But who cares when it sounds that gigglesomely amazing - really brings a F1 edge to the V10 wail.

And yet you can still tickle along in relative peace and quiet around town and on the motorway.

Eye-wateringly expensive though - fortunately mine was fitted by the previous owner and therefore came free (BMW dealers decline to charge extra for after-market mods on Approved Used stock it seems, however expensive they were).
