My E46, SMG 52 plate has started to hum( ! ) from the back and I have been told the diff is on it's way out, I did have the oil changed awhile ago because it was grinding going around tight corners and it helped alot but since then the humming has started, the car has done 91k and I have also been told the clutch has a tendency to go after 80k or so and on insection the prop has fair bit of play in it.I know someone has proberly asked these questions before but please if any one can give me some advice, prices and/or a good indie I would be most grateful and I live in the stafford area.

My CSL had a clonk from the back last year, the dealers replaced:
Diff- £2k fitted
Propshaft- £900 fitted
Both rear driveshafts - nearly £1400 fitted
All manner of balljoints/ bushes - another £500ish

All under warranty thankfully.

Ask the question over on M3cutters forum or CSL register, the diffs can be rebuilt for a lot less than new.
