Graduation to the Senior School of Frenzied Rev
Discussion
Having spent quite a few years at the Junior School of the Church of Frenzied Rev via an E30 M3, G-Power Evo III Z3MCoupe and a Z4MCoupe I have finally graduated to Snr School via an E61 M5...
What a car...
I have driven a nice E39 M5s extensively. Actually, this is somewhat misleading - I have driven the most powerful normally aspirated E39 M5 in Europe. And I loved it. Its ability to rev and propel you towards the horizon was utterly addictive. But the E61 is in a different league. Straight out of the box. Off to buy shares in Shell and BP
Must say though that the experience has been somewhat blighted by the dealer who took ages to prep the car - 13 days, and in the meantime re-scheduled the handover no less than 4 times, forgot to add an extra year of warranty that was agreed when I bought the car and to add insult to injury forgot to give me the User Manual on handover last night!
Did I mention that you have to call 5 times before they bother to return calls...
I have contacted BMW Customer Services, but frankly I expected more from a major chain, which claims to be up there with the best. In contrast, Lovetts were amazing when I bought my Z4MCoupe from them in 2007...

Congrats mate. I see you have found the M button already. Get some pics up of the old girl if you can afford your internet connection after filling up on VPower. Lol
Well done, enjoy!

I actually liked the 400 mode for town driving too. London does not lend itself well to M-button shennanigans
Must say though that the short experiment on the M2 was bonkers. In a good way
I'm slightly confused by the class system... if the 4&6 pots are junior school and the V10 is senior school, where does a V8 M3 fit?
Not that it matters. Primary school or secondary, it's very nice to be back in the education system.
What happens north of 6k rpm is truly remarkable.
Hurrah for Frenzied Rev.

Good question, Sir!Not that it matters. Primary school or secondary, it's very nice to be back in the education system.

Perhaps there is another way of looking at the school system...
I think the V10 M5 would be the head boy, the V8 E39 M5 would be the school prefect, the V8 E9x M3 would be a house prefect and the 6-pots and 4-pots would be the smart kids at junior school...

Congratulations & clearly you have taste...
Its a shame the dealer couldn't get its act together. Its a real lottery on your experience it seems, especially at the major groups. Rob @ Sunningdale has been superb throughout the whole process, lending me his own car when it needed a software update and calling the service depot on my behalf.
In contrast, the dealer that sold me the previous car had 2 weeks to call me back after I said I was after the e61...still waiting. Even the Merc dealer I saw with an e63 called me back !
Anyway, forget that. I only hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed my initial 10 days/3 tanks of fuel of e61 ownership !
