M3 E46 Project.
Discussion
Hello to M power owners.
Myself and a friend of mine are about to buy tomorrow a M3 2002 E46 SMG II if all goes well.
We want to turn it slightly into a track car aiming to spend around £4000 on it for that.
Our ideas are,
1. Front AP Racing brakes (may be 2nd hand, much cheaper)
2. Beter suspension (not sure wich one ? )
3. Racing seats
4. The car as CSL wheels (can you only fit Pilots Sport cups for track or anything else like Toyos R888 ?)
Does that seem enought mods to enjoy it? We didn't want to spend CSL money.
Thank you for your help. I am new to M3's. I own a Viper SRT10 who is now for sale so i can enjoy a bit more my track days with less worry of damaging a higher value car.
Thanks,
Eduardo.

Update. Saw the car this am SMG II gearbox not shifting proparly on full throtle, ball joints gone +++ bad inside too
Glad i didn't have to drive to him 90 miles away as i had ask those questions before. I would have been fuming. So he went back instead loosing a sale there and mileage.
Will find a good one i hope.

Get an E36 instead for track-work - 95% of the performance for 50% of the price.
Thanks. You might think i am mad but i want a SMG gearbox. I like the blips on the down shifts
I am getting old for heal and toe
or may be it's the long travel of the Viper clutch who saturated me for life
Eduardo.
Regarding wheels, I'd strongly suggest getting a set of OEM 18" ones off ebay. (If the car you get comes with 19s)
Going to 18" gives you a much greater choice of track day tyres, and they will be cheaper.
I personally use Kuhmo V70a in hard compound and have found them to be very good, as well as reasonably priced.
Check out www.camskill.co.uk for track tyres.
PS,
I also have the previously mentioned HSD coilovers on my car, and they are very good value for money. On full hard setting they are quite stiff, but wind them back to halfway or so and they are very good for everyday use.
