I test drove an E92 M3 today and found that the seat bolsters were digging in too much on the sides on their widest setting, to the point where they were pretty uncomfortable. I am not particularly portly but the I am reasonably broad. I test drove an M5 afterwards and the seats were perfect but I prefer the coupe shape.

I have therefore migrated my thoughts towards buying an M6 but there are no cars for sale within a 100 mile radius. Does anyone know whether the M6 seats are wider than those in the M3? I don't really want to travel 100 miles to find that they are same as those in the M3.

Did you try adjusting the side bolsters?

I believe that the M6 seats are identical to the E46 M3 seats, which may be easier to find for a "sit-in"

Yes, it's the same seat, stitching slightly different, but had E46 M3 (8 years ago now!) & had my M6 for over 2 years now. Both very comfortable & M6 is insane.

From an ownership point of view, I would say all costs are similar, the only difference will be fuel, you'll get around 7mpg less in M6 over M3. (insurance will be less in M6).
