I was in the process of buying an M6 from a main dealer when I found out that the workshops put 2lts of oil in during the used car inspection which seams like a lot. I thought the max to min difference was 1ltr but would be grateful if someone could confirm. Night need to walk away from the car if so.

May I ask how you found out? Not trusting dealers on the whole, I would have thought that if the car was allowed to run low on oil it would be something they would want to keep quiet about.

2L is not that much during an inspection.....the oil capacity I believe is close to 13L (sump) and you can use upto 1 litre per 1400 miles if driving hard or in hot weather.
