I won't spoil it for those that haven't read it, but is the M5 finally getting the credit it deserves?

I'm on my second having had various Scooby's, Evo 5,6,9, a CSL, several 911's (including 996 Turbo) and for me nothing comes close.

Either I'm getting old (36) or it is very underrated.

I will mourn it's passing!

I concur!

There cars are truly fabulous and the longer your relationship with one, the better it gets.

It's a bit like marriage.....if you don't bail out early at the first sign of trouble, you will reap the rewards later.

A true sign of their greatness is the very limited choice of potential replacements.....few cars compare or better them!

thing that really impresses me about these is that they are big / heavy, yet with the correct settings, they drive like a sports car and inspire confidence through the corners. A truly amazing engineering feat and the best engine BMW have ever made!

I was a bit let down by the article if I'm honest. Sure they sung its praises but its hardly a good read. Where was the E61 bit?

In the iPad version they have sound clips of other V10s, but not the M5, despite its being the star V10.

Interestingly, I thought the article did few favours for the E60 M5.
It sings the praises of the V10 engine (who doesn't)... but mourns that the high-revving peaky F1-derived engine is mismatched to the intent of the car - a 4 door supersaloon that the E39 M5 did a better all round effort of. (also referred to in Issue 160)

How would the article have read if it reviewed the same V10 in the M6? scratchchin

Yes, the M6 cabrio is the heaviest of the E6* M cars at over 2 tonnes.

Jeez forgive me I thought it was mainly positive..I will keep my mouth shut in the future.

Ecain it didn't mention the estate but there is hardly a lot of difference is there?

Bit childish in here at times.

Why, because someone has a different opinion to yours?
