Hi,

I can see myself getting a whooping here but hey ho all sensible advice taken on board. I am trying to sell my E46 at the moment and todate I have not even had a one nigerian prince make me an offer for $24 million.

I know times are hard and there are hundreds for sale but if anyone can take a look at the ad and give some advice all will be taken on board and appreciated, except st colour mate, looks st, M3s are st etc

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3083992.htm

thanks in advance

Service history is all, but no mention of history/quality of history. Not a fan of black and silver, but looks tidy enough. Lots about though, a monkey off should find it a home.

Nice car. You might do well to list detail of service history as the ad mentions nothing as far as I can see. Also to me it doesn't stack up why you need to sell for a genuine reason if you're willing to part ex against R35. Price looks good to me but the market is flooded with E46 M, so you might need to drop below 10k to catch buyers interest.

Honestly, I think it's the colour combo, it just doesn't stand out amongst the many many others. Anything will sell for the right price....

Edit... And noticed it's SMG. Rightly or wrongly that may well narrow your Market.

The price should be £9995

A bit more effort with the description wouldn't go amiss either - Its just a little clinical at the moment. Perhaps mention the condition etc

The pics are a bit rubbish too I'm afraid. Try driving to a leafy location and take some pics from a lower stance to accentuate the aggressive arches and bonnet bulge. Maybe in less bright conditions, perhaps near a nice tree to cast some reflections. As it's a bland colour you need to show it off to its best.

Overall it looks and reads a tad boring so it just needs a touch of Alistair Campbell and sexing up a little.

'new car forces sale' sounds like you have a company car on the way or need a more practical car to me. Fact is that you fancy a change and want an R35, so I would just state that, or leave it out completely. Having information which looks contradictory on the face of it will reduce the number of people who will pick up the phone imo. GLWTS anyway smile

Advert tells me nothing except the spec and most of that is standard kit... History, ownership details, money spent etc

Yes the market is slow but decent stuff still sells and yours looks like a nice motor...

Effort!
Put some into the write up and the photos (higher quality the better).
Be honest about any marks on paintwork/wheels, etc, but talk up the positives (brand & model of tyres fitted, if premium)
Show the log book, receipts, MOTs, keys, owner manual, wallet.

Go read adverts for the R35 you fancy - see which ones have you chomping at the bit, and emulate that with yours.
Make the buyer want your car

No effort = couldn't care less = how well has this car been looked after?
Not all buyers will be local to you, so you have to sell the car based on what info you provide and the quality of your photos (to show/see detail easily -borrow a decent camera if you don't have one!) to tempt those further afield to call and consider making a long journey to view it.

It's August. The used car market falls on its arse in August. Be patient.

And when September comes, start a new ad that picks up all this feedback. Don't just amend the existing ad. People will read too much into an ad having been live for more than a couple of weeks.

And get rid of that stinky Wunderbaum, makes people wonder what odour you are trying to disguise...

Good point... First thing I thought of was either this guy smokes or there is water getting in somewhere making the carpets damp.. Neither maybe true but Wunderbaum is normally found in situations where one is..

Background in the pictures is important.

Its always nice to see a car on gravel drive with a nice sensible car in the back ground. imples the owner has money to look after it and it hasn't been left on the street

parked half on/off a curb is not a good look.

find a park or some where to take some pictures, or at least put it on your drive way

Yours doesn't look wrong compared to what else is out there, a local dealer (of dubious standing according to some) has a carbon black with grey leather (vomit imo) with 77K miles same sort of spec as your on a 51 plate up at £10K, no mention of FSH in his ad either.

When people put "genuine reason for sale" or an explanation as to why they are selling it always puts me off. I can't really explain why, just comes across to me like something is being hid.

I'm not saying this is the case - just my opinion on it.

I see where your coming from, but if I'm looking for a £10k car I will search upto £11-11.5K, just to see what else is around, but maybe that is just me.;)
