I took a cheapo few days away with SWMBO and the young lad last week.
Obviously the E39 handled the task with no problems although its a shame you can't get an E39 touring, more space would have been good.
It was filled to the neck and like a stbox, unfortunatly I forgot to take a pic of the boot which was most impressive.biggrin

The grunt is quite handy though, when the cheesy Wotsit fuelled mayhem and destruction in the back gets too much, just floor it for a second or two and it soon turns into a Recaro muffled mumble.

It just made me think, this carry on is doing my car no good, but TBH I don't care.
If I have to take my family with me to enjoy my car then that is a price I am happy to pay.
It made me think, who else uses their M as a family car?

Enjoy the pics, must dash, I have to go and pick rice crackers out of the seat pockets. wink

Well I've just come back from a family holiday (two weeks in the Alps) - four of us in the car and the boot literally barely able to shut, plus a brand new unused Trek road race bike nestling in the bottom of said boot. Car loaded to the gunnels. Yes and like you, I even let them eat in the car although I couldn't bring myself to look!

Family transport for us too (e39 M5). 3 family trips (and counting) to the Eiffel Region of Germany say it all for me.

They are proper cars that do all the things proper cars need to do, and also a few improper things when required....

To quote my daughter (6):

"Dad, please don't overtake that car, I get a funny feeling in my tummy..." biggrin

The only thing I would change is the rear seats and make them the folding variety... but having said that, there hasn't been anything that wouldn't fit in the car one way or another

Ha ha! My lad does do a kind of wide-eyed surprised look!

Your lad looks very sweet, just been told to say that by SWMBO. Really cute kid and nice motor! My son is 17 coming up 18 and just goes very quiet when I`m making progress.

Just been to Cornwall for the weekend in the e90 M3 with three mountain bikes on the roof bars.

Also done a couple of trips four up to the Alps for skiing, but my ex toddlers are now 21 and 13.

I bought some vacuum packs from Argos to pack our ski stuff in so it would all go in the boot! Had four ski helmets and one pair of boots plus all the skiing paraphenalia for a week and no need for roof box or any cr*p inside the car. A genius idea I got from a friend of the Gallactic Emperor.

Vac packs are a good idea! I will have to keep them in mind for the next time.

Do they do a 13 month old sized one? biggrin

Ritchie superb, I've been to Cornwall in mine last year fully ladened up with 2 kids, child number 2 was 6 months then.

Question, where do I get one of those Recaro seats from? Looks like a good fit.

I bought this two months before my Mrs found out she was pregnant with my first and her third.

So had to sell it...... well that's what she thought.

Could not stand the thought of the kids butchering my near enough un-used back seat so bought this

Although I am starting to get attached to that as well and thinking what I can do to save the leather frown

I think I just searched and maybe got it from ebay, definitly online anyway.
Mothercare do have a couple but not the full range.
That is a Young Sport model, I don't know if that suits the age of your little one.
They are surprisingly cheap and that one will do him until he is 11-12 or something like that, you just keep adjusting it, taking out the padding etc. They are great value and good quality.

(and they look cool. which is not important at all.) ahem.

"Its no use, we need four doors!"

Ok then..
