Trying to buy my first M3 I know the inspection 2 is more significant than a 1, any views on ball park costs to budget, I realise it depends on what needs doing but min max expereinces would be helpful

I had insp 2 done at a main dealer 3.5 yrs ago-£1086 with no extras.
A good indy will charge £700ish.
I have heard tho that bmw now offer a scheme for servicing on cars older than 4 years which significantly reduces the cost. Why this is i dont know, just shows how much they are having us over in the first place.

There's not much more in the Insp 2 over the Insp 1, just spark plugs and air filter and a couple of minor things from memory. So they're both fairly major services.

Spark plugs, gearbox+diff oil are the only difference between insp 1&2 IIRC. Valve clearences should be checked on both Insp 1&2.

The only difference is a 2 has fluid changes in gearbox and Diff.
I paid an Indy I know and trust £440 for an insp 1 and brake fluid change, dealer wanted about £750+.
I believe the gearbox fluid is quite pricey.

Little things he does that main dealers dont, such as a little bit of grease on your wheels nuts etc Not serviced to a time limit to meet targets.

Just looking at the reciept £66 was on gaskets alone, another £88.26 on Castrol TWS, he also changed the 2 belts and pollen filter. No spark plugs on the invoice though.

I had a gear selection problem, it cost me £566.10 remove gearbox and fit new clutch, and its spot on now, suprising how much lighter the clutch is too. I expect BMW would of charged a fair bit more. He used original LUK clutch too.

There is a place on Wiggington Road near York That wanted £480 for a basic insp1 that had good reviews too.
