I'm chewing it over at the moment and am interested in how many people out there have confirmed an order?

Also my dealer has quoted March Delivery but he's pushing to confirm the 'spec' now as its a 'Special'order'. Does this sound right?

Cheers

Apparently spec'ing piano black interior trim makes it fall under the "individual" scheme

And I've just had my arm twisted into proceeding with the order rather than cancelling!

Just out of interest how long have you had the car on order?? The reason I ask is mine's been on order (with deposit) since summer 2009 and I've been told it will come in mid Feb!!! I specced mine up in September, do you think one of us is being told porkies??????

Hi,

I wish I was posting to say I'd ordered one!

The last post is something that I and I guess others have suspected will be the case. Even the company directors and usual buyers - mostly who don't 'really' know what an M5 is aren't being allowed £85-90,000 cars to run these days. Of course, there will be still quite a few who are allowed to have them but I can't help feeling that when they're first spotted on UK roads, they'll be relatively few and far between.

Cheers, Dennis!

I have my name down for one at the local dealer. Just waiting to hear the final prices now.

I got round that one with my E60 by having the silver trim, but getting the dealer to order the piano black trim as an accessory and then fit it.

I was talking to the sales guy at my dealer this weekend. He didn't know, but we both guessed it would be c.£90k.

The chap at my dealers had no idea but looking the M5, I'm sure it will be into six figures after a couple of options rotate

I would have thought it would be all too easy to get to six figures, list price on mine was £102,000.

Hi David, I only ordered in July this year and was top of the list at my dealer (with less than £1500 deposit!). Mines being built week 50 (just before Xmas!!). I think your dealer is having a laugh ?

Not sure how many of these cars are on order and economic backdrop doesn't lend itself to big expensive cars.

That said, I've been told the m5 is being built to order so hopefully limited risk of BMW pumping cars into dealers that are then sold off cheaply, depressing residuals (more than usual depreciation).

Hi Kananga,
Mine is for build week 48 or 50!! Can't remember exactly what he showed me, but he said by the time it gets to the dealer I would be looking at the end of Jan, is your dealer saying that build week 50 is when it arrives? From my understanding the build week is exactly that then its has to be checked then shipped etc, with the car plants "christmas shut downs" which are usually 2 weeks this would put my dealers delivery date about right?? To be honest though if it gets here then I will wait till the 1st of March for the new reg. In regards to spec it's very easy to load it up, someone said earlier in the thread there is a delay for piano black trim, I wasn't told that at all just would be a delay if I went for a individual colour.....

If a well specced 640D costs £70k, I'd think the M6 version would be very very close to £100,000.

Mind you, the E63 M6 was very well specced as standard so hopefully the options won't be wallet draining.

The best thing about these big M motors is the mega depreciation IMO.
