Been for a look at a well priced e60 m5 on an 07 plate at a dealer. The car has full BMW stamped service book but one service was at main dealer BMW abroad in Monte Carlo. It has just ticked over to 50,000 miles has 1 previous owner and doesn't have the extended warranty already on it.

Can I put the BMW warranty on it? or does it have to have stayed in warranty without any gaps? I had heard that as long as it had full BMW history and sub 60k you could warrant it? if so any idea how I go about it?

The car is totally immaculate and I have been offered a fair part ex deal. The dealer offers his own 6 months engine and gearbox warranty that he stands by (not a 3rd party, ie if it goes wrong I take it to him and he pays for it etc) but I still feel I would want the best warranty possible.

Having an extended test drive tomorrow afternoon anything I should look out for in particular on the drive?

Thanks in advance!

You will be able to buy a BMW warranty for it no problem. I expect it will be between 900-1100 per year for it. You can still buy a warranty for them after 60k miles but the price doubles.

cheers for that I was just worried that you may have to have kept the warranty running without any unwarranted gap to be able to keep extending it

It only doubles if you pay annualy. Pay monthly and you avoid all the hikes.

so with pay monthly they forget to increase/review the cover or is it a genuine deal they do?

I think the contracts are different. The yearly contract requires a mileage update wheras the monthly doesn't.

Genuine deal if it starts at less than 60k miles.

BTW I think the warranty starts a month from purchase. Could be wrong but that protects the insurance company from people claiming for items that went wrong pre-warranty.
