And it was absolutely amazing. Out of this world looks and performance. The first thing that takes you back is it's presence, it's stunning in the flesh. This was an interlagos blue with silver leather trim, alacantara roof lining, extended leather. Stunning. Took a while to get the hang of the flappy paddle gear box but whilst gaining confidence with it the auto mode was more that sufficient. The performance was other worldly, laugh out loud grin ear to ear stuff. Handling was also precise as hell. Wonderful car.

I've added a title based on your previous threads, I'm guessing you went for a test drive in an M5? if not post up what you want the title to be and I'll change it

guys, this is the deal the Dealer (BMW main agent) is putting on the table, how do you think it stacks up.

55 plate M6 for £24,850. 45k miles. Interlagos Blue, Silverstone extended merino leather, additional equiptment,

Bluetooth Telephone Preparation
Comfort Access
Headlining. Anthracite Alcantara
High-beam Assistant
Piano Black - High Gloss
Ski bag
TV Function
its well spec'd.

they are giving me £8500 for my 53 plate M3 coupe (silver/black, no nav, 19's, below average miles, good condition)

BMW finance repayments are decent.

what do you guys think about the price of the M6? a little strong? and this is very much pie in the sky but what do you think this car will be worth in say 18 months time with 60k miles on it? i just get the impression that the residual values on the M6 are going to be very strong.

That won't be an easy car for them to sell in this climate so I reckon you have some room for movement, I would also try and negotiate a nice long AUC warranty, 2 yrs should be achievable. £8500 for yours is quite low.

2 year warranty, very good shout, I'll throw that into the mix.

I recently bought an M6 through the dealer network - I think the price on offer sounds ok - but also worth asking for them to make sure the idrive is updated to the latest version, see if they can give you the latest sat nav discs and maybe pop an ipod kit in it. All of these items would cost a lot to buy but should be pretty cheap for the dealer.

I bought mine a few weeks back and it is quite a thing to drive - still getting used to the paddles and working on my reverse parking - it is quite a bit bigger than my old TVR T350C. Also, make friends with the petrol station - especially if you are driving around town!!

It may not be a sensible choice but when did that ever matter wink

Lots of dealers were offering this a while back so I would insist on it. It could be worth way more than getting £1000 off the list price.

In addition to idrive, make sure the car has the latest firmware (software) for everything particularly the SMG gearbox and get them to prove it by confirming what versions are on the car in writing.

Also check the small print off the AUC as it may stipulate that BMW franchise must service the car which could well double the service costs compared to an indy specialist.

Staggering value: less than a third of what it cost new.

Hang out for that 2nd year warranty.

With regard to selling your M3, I recently sold mine which was the exact same spec as yours except it was black/black. The dealer offered £9k for mine, but I sold it privately for £12,250. If you have the option of trying to sell it privately, I would definitely go for it.

The M6 is sutch a epic car i love mine but sadly it has to go.

Mine is a marmite colour Indianapolis red which i have to say once used to shows the car and its lines off fantasticly.

I average 14.4 on the mpg computer which isnt too bad

Re the m3 if you can wait deff sell it privatly you will get more, but i agree driving in with the m3 and then out in the m6 is a easy option.

I think most people would feel ill when faced with this MPG, which is why these epic cars are so cheap in the current climate.

It is strange though - if you were told that a Gallardo does that mpg you would shrug and say that it is OK. Yet, when a M6, which for all intents and purposes is as good as a base Gallardo in terms of performance and miles more practical, gets absolutely killed price wise...

I'd be disappointed that it wasn't lower! Single figures has got to be the way to go....
