What to look for...

So I've been looking for a car for a while. My wife convinced me (with a lot of work) to not do a porsche due to the kids. So I 'settled' on an M5.
I've seen an E60 nearby that could work. It has high 50 mileage (but under 60 so hoping to get the BMW warrantee), had a drive and it was fun but I would prefer to go into this with my eyes open.

So what should I be looking for? The car has FSH, with a service at 850 miles.
Any recalls? Anything obvious I should look out for? Is it worth paying someone to look at it?
And what's the process about getting the BWM warrantee? Do they need to check the car over before okaying it? Is their check sufficient to cover anything I should be worried about?

Hi mate, glad you are looking at the E60 M5 as your next car. However, you will fit in much better here and get less agro if you use the search function to get your answers. The questions youve asked have been asked at a weekely, almost daily rate recently so you wont have to look far.

I believe EVO has written a buying guide for either this or the M6 (same power and drive train) the advanced search will also provide a wealth of information, although it can be a little tempermental at times.
