M conversion

Hi to all,

Im thinking how possible is to convert a Z3 or Z4 to v8, particulary with a M5 E39 5.0 motor.
What do you think?

Yes it's possible - just depends how deep your pockets are.

ok, the engine has a cost of 5000 euros, the car 5000-7000. Do you think this project may exceed 20.000?

You'll probably need to add another €5000 for labour and €5000 for parts you've not thought of, but I'd guess €25k should do it.

All depends on who's doing it, whether they've got the time and relevant experience, and whether you can insure it once it's done.

I sold my engine and gearbox from an M5 I broke for £2600 and I still have the rear diff for sale if its of use. I wouldn't think it would cost anything like €25k to get the whole thing running but do make sure you start off with an excellent Z3/4

i've put the e39 m5 engine into an e30 twice now.
the final cost of the conversion will depend on how much you can do for yourself.

if you need help with the ecu, send me an email.
i know someone who can reflash the ecu, to not go into limp mode when it doesn't see the signals it normally looks for when its in the e39 (can-bus etc)

ok, i keep this in mind.
Which chassis you think can handle better the extra power?Z3 or Z4?
