What happens to the tyre sensors if you change the wheels. How do they work?

Nothing happens , as they don't have them, just a conventional wheel valve.

i believe the bmw senses tyre deflation by measuring any changes in the rotation compared to the other wheels. deflating tyres will have a lower circumference and so rotate more than the other wheels.

+1 the system uses the abs sensors to measure wheel speed, it is a bit of a crude system but works ok.

if you change wheels and/or tyres just follow the reset process and that will sort it out had this problem on mine after new tyres fitted all sorted now
