Hi all,

Has anyone had their E39 M5 alloy wheels refurbed recently and could recommend somewhere that could do them in the correct Shadow Chrome paint too. I'm based in Warwickshire but the quality of the job is more important than the distance to travel.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

The Alloy Wheel Specialists in Tewkesbury did mine earlier this year (www.reinventingthewheel.co.uk).

From this:

To this:

They did a cracking job. I went for a shade darker than OEM as it looks good on a silver car, but they can do the OEM shade too. Think I paid £450 all in. The depth of the finish is very impressive, as you can see some ares look black and other areas look like light silver - constantly changes according to the light.

I can recommend Diamond styling at Otford Kent/Surrey boarder. I also asked for mine to be done a shade darker than normal, looks much better. I've used them twice and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
Here's my wheels after they were refurbed.

I also recommend BJV Engineering, who I've used a couple of times in the past, including a refurb of my E39 M5 replicas in Shadow Chrome (they call it black chrome).

Cost was a very acceptable £216 (inc) which included collection and delivery (but they only do that if you're within 40 miles)

Yup BJV are the very same company in my ealier post.. They cost me £220 or thereabouts. I delivered and picked up as Flaunden is a little way distant, was recommended to them by several different people.

I've used BJV several times on different cars and had them do my M5 wheels about three months ago.

Finish isn't perfect - the surface is pitted in places but you'd have to look very closely to see this. Also, their standard Black Chrome finish is a slightly lighter shade than OEM (or at least it was for me) so in hindsight I would have specified a darker hue.

For the money though, no complaints. If you're really picky and are happy to pay for it, Lepsons apparently are the way forward.

Thanks for all the replies! I think BJV look like a good bet from the pictures. Having said that does anyone know if Rimstock or Rimfurbishment in the West midlands are still in business because they did the ones that "Seesure" made a link to.

That's kind of what I'm after.

Andy,

Lepsons did mine and the job was excellent. smile

I've also seen the job that Rimfurbish did on Tiagos M5 and that looks even better in my opinion. Rimfurbish are a huge company and I'd have no hesitation using them.

Hold your horses........only a few of us on the M5Board used Rimfurbish/Rimstock and only about three of four of us actually got decent results.......the guy there who was sorting it all out left the company and all sorts of nightmares begun.......do a few searches on M5board.....they had one guys wheels for 4 months and they still aren't perfect.

Mine are regarded as being nearly as good as Tig's but still have some orange peel etc.....

I wouldn't risk them again to be honest. Read pages 20 to 30ish on the M5 board link posted earlier....

For reference mine after Rimstock.....

Thanks for the update. Hadn't realised that there had been some issues with later refurbs. All good stuff. Thanks.

Matt

Edited to add; Andy, I'm also in Warwick and need to get my CSL's to Lepsons at some point in Jan or Feb. Would be happy to take your M5 wheels down too in order to save you a trip. smile

They look great - bit darker than standard? Lovely deep shine on the paintwork as well. 10/10.

Thanks mate!

Yup I didn't ask for them to be darker actually, that's just how they came back.

I didn't complain because I thought the darker shade suited the blue.......

Nice pics and thanks to MattOZ for the offer, i might take you up on that to be honest!... if i can get something else for it to sit on in the meantime! At Mattoz again, is that the original colour on your M5 or is that a shade or two lighter? Mine at the minute look a lot more like Reindeers from rimstock and i kind of like that as my car is carbon black. Having said that your do look nice too Matt and are real shiny!!
