After years of waiting, and quite a few days getting a few cosmetic bits tidied up after agreeing to buy it, I finally have the joy of this on my drive.

Only done a few miles in it, but I have to say what an allrounder she is.

Drives like any other car when are taking it easy but when you want it, there is instant power.

My daughter has called it sky and even the wife loves it. Its just a timeless classic

2001 Le mans blue, no modifications whatsoever and in absolutely pristine condition. It took me months of searching to find and a lot of test drives of e39's and e60's before I found her.

Although it will need the pixels sorting at some point, its very legible at the moment but will need attention over the next 12 months, so if anyone knows of someone in west yorkshire who can sort these issues out please let me know.

Best colour! Well done.

I'll be the first to be a little bit rude.....How much and how many miles?

Just wait till its summer and she's not sliding everywhere in the rain!

She has 70k on the clock - which at 7k a year mileage I thought was very reasonable, and has had two owners and then me!!!

The car has

FSH
Comms pack inc phone and the TV function - which I figure will be pretty useless apart from in the NE (can you covert to digi)?
Just had Insp II
Black and Grey leather interior
Sunroof
All the usual toys/gizmos
And has onviously been well cared for, as everything is almost new to the touch (the sport button looks very fresh, some I have looked at were virtually worn out)

ps what oil is everyone using for their m5? may as well stock up?

Haha it is that, I cant disagree, although I cant bring myself to change the username, I have used it for years on various forums/websites, my memory is crap and any change would result in asking for new passwords time and time again!!!

Very low mileage! Good stuff.

You can convert tv to digital but you are looking at £300ish.

There's a lot of oil arguments but most us use Castrol TWS 10w60 or the 'M' approved Castrol Edge 10w60 (not edge sport)

Any problems with her? Did you pay under £9k? (Thinking of selling mine, same spec and miles)

I think 9k on yours would be about right, I paid a little under but I know I got a bit of a bargain.

The thing I have learnt over the last year is not to look at model/year but to look at condition and how they have been used etc. I have seen many an e60 that has clearly been thrashed and unmaintained and in an appalling condition after you get beneath the dealer prep.

I was left with a question - with a budget of 20k ish do I go the limit of my budget with a 50/50 e60 or get a cracking e39 that I am 100% about and have slush funds if the need arise

Great purchase. You need to let it sing though so a rear box delete should be just the ticket plus you can keep your old boxes to put it back to standard at a later date should you want to.

Sounds like s cracking example, I picked up a 2001 Le Mans blue example with 78k on the clock, they are fantastic cars.

Enjoy!

Jesus how loud can it get? Its got quite a throaty v8 rumble before you start to do anything else with it? Although I must admit the power deserves more noise

Just the pixel issue, a dodgy oil sensor, and a missing climate control button, which are all getting sorted on Tuesday, along with a couple of alloy scrapes.

After Tuesday all the above should be sorted...

Almost got caught out immediately after picking her up, took it very steady after. I will stick to insignia in winter, its company so may as well put miles on that before it goes

Well done sir, a fine choice of automotive steed. You have done well to find a low miler/owner like that.

Just take it easy for a while!

Oh they're not that bad, it just depends on your familiarity with a powerful RWD car. The TC is reasonably good at catching the tail but it cant defy the laws of physics. Most bad accidents with RWD comes from people hooning around unaware of what can happen and what to do when it does.

Had her out today, nothing major, roads and weather terrible. The accelerator is amazing, picks up the slightest downward/upward movement

The alarm has been going off randomly tonight though, any thoughts..........

Excellent purchase! Similar spec to mine. I also have a random alarm going off issue with mine, never got to the bottom of it. So if you do let me know what it is!
