When ever ive heard them mentioned in the past the usual 'ditch finder' term crops up.To be honest at that price for an M3 they cant be up to much can they.If you want to try something a bit cheaper try the vredestein ultrac sessanta or the falken 452.Theyve been around a bit now but are both popular with M3 owners and are around the £700 mark fitted.
Ive recently fitted the vreds to my vert and am very pleased with them.Prefer them to the PS 2's i had before.

No! I prefer to stay on the road!
I've always read the tyre tests in evo and the like. The top tyres tend to be Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear and continental. Contis are only tyres BMW have homoglated on the car. Michelin ps2's are usually what the boards recommend but iirc aren't made in the size fitted to the car. Slight size change sorts it though.

I've got the Conti 5P's on my M3CS and they're better than the CSC3 and also, in my experience, the Pilot Sport 2. I once had some Kumho Ku31's on a set of BBS CH's and they were poor in comparison to either the Conti or the Michelin. This was despite them being lauded as a good budget tyre.
My Conti 5P's were £900 fitted and are excellent. That's in CSL sizes, so 235/40/19 and 265/35/19.

Vredestein Ultracs all the way mate. On my 2nd set now after originally going with Conti's. They are as good as the Conti's in the dry, and the wet weather performance is actually better.
With the price difference between the 2 there is no way I'll be looking at anything else. Check out www.m3cutters.co.uk for more info, they seem to be the preferred option, apart from the real expensive stuff.
Conti's may be the only one to carry the M3 markings, but in reality a lot of that comes down to marketing and how much they are willing to pay to have their tyre as the OEM choice.

I also had Ultrac Sessanta's on my car and was very happy with them. Sometimes cheaper does not necessarily mean worse but in the case of tires i wouldn't take that chance, they are literally the only thing connecting you to the road... The Vreds are a good tire in a good price. You can get much better performing tires but they offer great value for money.

I've just (few weeks back) put Falken 452's on all round and they are great! The car doesn't get used enough and the old tyres were too nackered for too long for me to say they've got more grip in the wet/dry, but I've certainly noticed subtle handling improvements.
I'm no longer being pulled into truck tracks on the motorway for one!!

Although the OP was about an M3... See how that could look now.
yeah sorry mate I had assumed you were maybe running some seriously upsized tyres on an M3, in which case dropping back to the correct size (or even the next upsize) would mean you could get the vreds.Suprised they are not available in your size though. You can get them in the correct size for OEM 19 and for CSL wheels.
