Hello All

Chopped my E39 530d M in for a full fat M5 a few months ago

To be honest, the overall condition of the M5 is not as good as the 53 plate 530d I had. However, the car is incredible in all areas and is such a joy to own!

So, as it is my birthday in the next few days, I decided to treat the car to a full paint correction, courteosy of "dooka".co.uk

This involved full clean followed by 2 stage paint machine correction. This has got rid of years worth of mechanical and eastern european hand wash swirls which were leaving horrible defects in the paints.

Not a cheap job but the car looks like new! Drove it straight to the nearest multi story for a few pics! Hope you like!!

Very nice, keep meaning to get this done on the E36 but then I wonder if it's worth it as it will only get covered in track day deposits again

Looks stunning, need to get exactly the same done on my 2001 LeMans Blue M5, if you don't mind me asking how much did it cost and who carried out the correction (feel free to PM).

Hi,

I'm going to be a 'little' harsh...

It'd be great to have a paintwork correction thread with a level of quality for the pictures that can and does show how well the results are! the pictures seem to be off a mobile phone and thus, I'd say your car looks distinctly average, so get some high quality pictures !

end of harshness!

In reality, I bet it does look absolutely fantastic! there's many LMB (Avus for the early cars are a close shade too) E39's around and I've seen them when they are indeed looking pristine, so I can imagine this car would be no different !

I'm also envious of course that you have an M5! I need one too! .. but I have to wait till it's more viable !

Any plans for the car ?

congrats on the upgrade !

Cheers, Dennis!

Is it?? I do my own, have done for years and it takes freaking ages. 10 hours at £40 an hour seems very reasonable.

To the OP, lovely M5, can't beat le mans blue paintwork.

what the hell kind of camera did you use for them, just in case i'm ever after another i want to know what not to buy hehe

in all seriousness though i have to say the car itself looks lovely & is a future classic thumbup

is it just me or do bmw's really suffer in the paintwork dept? my old CSL was terrible for swirl marks (SB) & quite a few of the Z4M coupes that i'm looking at at the moment are the same. not enough to look dog ruff but i do view them & think, man that's going to take one big detail to get up to standard!

Not impressed with BM paint.

My carbon black E46 is at the detailers being corrected now.

Paint quality well below what i would expect for a "premium" car.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Apologies for crappy Pics - I was using a compact camera which did not like processing the low light levels with deep reflections..... I will get my SLR out next time and take some proper
pics

As for the car, I will need to get the wheels refurbed soon. I have had the rear muffler delete done and the rear replaced with some lovely stainless tips and straight pipes from the resonator. Sounds amazing!!

Mafs replaced by me, rear tyres rePlaced with Vredestein Ultratrac Sessantas ( lovely), rear electric blind has been installed.

Only thing I may do is:
- light window tints
- digital upgrade for tv
- black kidneys( although unsure of this)

Fab car!!

Alway loved the E39 M5, very nearly owned one but ended up with an M3.

For some strange reason, one i cant put my finger on, I'm still drawn to e39 530d's.
