Been looking to buy one recently.
Cheapest car Ive seen in £18k, however £22k - £24k for a nice one with low mileage.
One 2006 car which is currenlty up for £24k, was up for £37k 10 months ago (when it was purchased by the previous owner).
Since 2002 M3's are still fetching £8k - £10k, I dont think that M6's will drop to £10k any time soon unless theve got gallactic mileage.
Also if you buy a car for £10k it way require a new clutch (£2.5k) and new pads+disks(£2k), therefore your 10k car will cost you £14.5k!!

BMW extended warranty is essential for an M6 or M5, I've heard too many horror stories of new boxes being needed! A very long test drive is also needed first as there are a lot of dogs around!
When you find the right car though, automotive nirvana! I'm currently trying to convince a friend who's trying to leave his R32 for an RS4 to go and try an M5 first!!!

Where are all these stories of cars needing new boxes? BS in my opinion. New clutches maybe, but not new boxes.

What I am saying is its SMG is a complicated unit and if it goes bang (which is not unknown) then its going to cost you an absolute fortune. You dont know how many fast hard starts previous owners have done.Eddie
If it had the US manual box (which I believe is the e39 one) then I would have considered one but its horses for courses I guess.

You can find out how many launches or moments of abuse the car has suffered by simply getting BMW to download the cars 'blackbox' and having HQ analyse the data. They do this before processing a transmission claim to prove the car is or isn't abused. If it had the US manual box (which I believe is the e39 one) then I would have considered one but its horses for courses I guess.
