Was I dreaming?
Discussion
Help please. Back in the day circa 2006 I seem to remember a E60 M5 with twin turbo's from across the pond. I believe the car was featured in BMW Car or similar magazine. Can anyone remember this, as an aid to memory the turbo's were located behind the rear bumper with boost pipes running to the front of the car. Wondering if this car is still about. A search on here and google have failed, which worries me about my state of mind.
Please tell me I wasn't dreaming this up...

It wasn`t a dream; it was done by a company called Currency Motors. Was only ever a one off. I can`t imagine it worked very well as the pressure drop off on that length of piping would be pretty bad.

Well done that man, that is exactly the car I was thinking about. I agree about the pressure drop off. 810 HP. I bet that was a bit scary at full chat..http://www.topspeed.com/cars/best-cars/currency-mo...
Thanks

Very common mod on US cars, Corvettes etc.
I think that the 205 you are thinking of was a white 8v with a single turbo, that was done for cost, as it is very easy to mount a turbo on a 205 in the engine bay
I distinctly remember it being an MI that had a turbo on the exhaust, cannot recall the colour though. I think it worked as a concept but heat transfer and melting rear bumpers was another thing.I think that the 205 you are thinking of was a white 8v with a single turbo, that was done for cost, as it is very easy to mount a turbo on a 205 in the engine bay
I haven’t seen that one then I’m afraid. I guess it’s worthwhile due to the cost of finding a T16 Manifold (or engine!) although there are a couple of companies now that make custom turbo manifolds for the Mi. I don’t see the point if the turbo can be mounted in the engine bay.
It’s not really new though as it’s been used on quite a few race cars from the 70/80s. Usually without a silencer.
