I think I may have found a car on the AUC scheme, does anyone know how much room there usually is on an AUC car.

Would a years tax, an extra years warranty and lowish rate finance be do-able or should I push for more/expect less?

It depends on the car as some are more desirable and thus have a far larger target audience than others....

It also depends on weather it is priced competitively in the first place.

What car is it? A 320d M-sport which has a broader target audience and priced amongst the lowest in the country for age/miles/spec will have a far lower margin than an overpriced M3/335i which will also appeal to fewer potential purchasers....as a result of this a more popular car that is priced cheaper will result in a lower discount to the customer.

If it helps, the last car I bought, was a Z4M priced at £26k, I stole it for £22k.

This was 2 years ago mind.

It depends how long it's been in stock.

I also bought my Z4M 2 years ago, and it was advertised for £26k. I offered £24k for it and they wouldn't budge, so i walked away.

A month later they dropped the price to £25k. I offered £24k and they said no again, so i walked away again.

A month later they dropped the price to £24k. I offered £23k this time, and they said no again, so i walked away for a third time.

Month 3, and they dropped another thousand of the sticker price, £23k. I offered £22k and they accepted.

Of course they should have accepted my first offer......

The car in question is a Z4M I'm not in a hurry to buy having sold my car and im saving every month so I
may just offer them what I think is a bargain and see what happens.

The car is 17k.

I figured warranty is nothing or costs circa £450 to them( Iv seen an invoice) £460 tax and low finance is something they should be able to attain so only really £1kish for what I listed maybe I can push it more.

I'll see what they say, can't hurt to ask!?

I'd try and get another years warranty out of them and a good finance deal.

FYI a year ago i saved 3k in the asking price but didn't get anymore warranty etc

BTW Z4MC are great and always give you a grin!

I had bit of a similar experience to yourself when trying to buy an M6 last year. Spotted one in the ideal spec and mileage. 2 weeks after they rejected what I thought was a fair offer they called me back offering me the car at my price. However they weren't too impressed when i made a lower offer. In the end i couldnt be arsed dealing with them and just bought a different car.

i hate that sort of attitude in sellers. if you agree on a price that's one thing, but if they reject your offer that the end of that transaction, closed, gone. A new one can start, two weeks later smile

imagine the state the economy would be in (it's bad enough anyway) if hindsight were built into every deal....
