M3 servicing cost/interval
Discussion
Folks,
Recently bought an M3 which has FSH from specialists, etc. Previous owner was doing major motorway mileage in his last year (Owned since 15,000 miles). The mileage gap between the last oil service seems rather high.
Currently on 109k. OBC is showing "Oil Service" due.
Previous services are as follows, supposedly done on the lights. It was going in to Redish Motorsport for an oil service and general fettle (bit down on power) however having spoken to the last place who looked after it they reckon it might be due an Inspection 2. Eeeek!
24/05/2011....93813 miles....Oil service
27/07/2010....82658 miles....Insp I
18/05/2009....66173 miles...Insp II
Any ideas? Think a balance transfer on the credit card might be in order

Inspection I is what should be done next, that's what I would have done anyway. Mileages don't look too wrong if it has been used on motorway, approx 16.5k, looks a little stretched, maybe why they did an InspectionI instead of an oil service.
Oil service
Inspect I
Oil service
Inspect II
is the correct schedule.
No, actually better off doing an Inspt II, or the plugs will have been in there too long by the time it gets and InspectII if you don't do it as the next service. That will also bring it back in line.

Thanks for the info, definitely a good time to do the Insp. II.
The power issue is due to a malfunctioning VANOS solenoid, no other codes coming up.
It's quite good timing because a recon VANOS unit is going to cost me 900 fitted however that also takes care of various bits of the Insp. 2 saving me about 200-300.
