What info is recorded on M key thing?
Discussion
Hi - have an e90 which i am really enjoying - which brings to me to a comment a mate made over the weekend - who said that in the event of being stopped by the BIB - they now are aware that speed etc is recorded on the key itself for the past 15 mins of use - and they have the capability to interrogate the data...is this true - has anyone actually been aware of this happening - or is it an old wives tale?
TIA
TIA
ok i concede it was
- april 1 when i was told this
- i was in my local at the time and my recollection of exactly what he said is a little hazy...
but he was adamant that data relating to speed/rpm/which gear was available to read on the key - just curious enough to like to know categorically that sort of data is not recorded in the key - presume this is recorded in the ecu

Even if it does store the speed it won't be calibrated and i doubt it would be submissible as evidence.

Not to mention the possibility of the BIB having a device that can read the keys on all makes and models of cars.Post in the legal section and some legal eagle will tell you
