Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere...

I've just bought an E46 M3 convertible and wondered if it's possible to get the electric folding mirrors put in although it's a factory fit option? Would this be a main dealer job or does anyone have any knowledge of anyone else who could / should do it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the exact answer but it's not going to be cheap. This is a handy feature if you have to park in narrow curved London streets, especially with helpless delivery lorry drivers following their Sat Nav to the letter.

You can save a fortune doing it manually though.

Can be done, not done myself as mine mine are OEM but Google is your friend as there are a number of user guides people have posted in various forums, just search "retrofit E46 M3 folding mirror" or similar.

i believe you need to buy after market or oem with motors in and the get and fit the switch in door...
believe the 330 just needed switch as they had motors in mirrors.

If the car has electric memory seats then yes it's a straightforward swap of the mirrors and switch. Cheapest option would be to find used on ebay and the motors can be swapped into existing shells if you can't find the right colour.

Same goes for the 330 but they never had motors present with no switch and post facelift models have different wiring connectors to the mirrors.

I did it to my old M3. It is plug and play. However there is no option to code it to the car's GM so it does it with the remote.
