cheers, i got this response from opie:

There is only one oil recommended for your car, but it's a good one

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-715-castrol-edge-10w-6...

The gearbox takes just under two litres of either the Fuchs Sintofluid 75w-80 or the Redline MTL.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-981-fuchs-titan-sintof...
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1019-redline-synthetic...

The diff takes approximately 1.7L of the Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip/SAF-XJ.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-736-castrol-saf-xj-75w...

If the diff is noisy add some of the Redline Friction Modifier to keep it quiet.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-6320-red-line-limited-...

BMW use the Castrol React Performance, as far as I know.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-742-castrol-react-perf...

Regards

- do i really need all of the above?????

If your doing an insp.II then, yes.

The only thing you may not need is the Redline Friction Modifier and the brake fluid if your car is not due a brake fluid change (should be done every 2 years).

Also, check Eurocarparts for the oil, seems quite a good price I think.

Castrol Engine Oil (Edge Fully Synthetic 10W60 Engine Oil (4 Litre)) £37.99

  • actually the Opie Oils deal with a free 1L bottle is better.

They take 5.5 litres of engine oil, and 1 litre of brake fluid is sufficent.

Nope.

Try Elms in Cambridge. That's where my car is heading in the next couple of weeks.

BMW use their own brand Dot 4 fluid. You also need a cam cover gasket for the valve clearances.
