Help Buying Z4M
Discussion
Hi all, new to the forum so forgive me if these questions have been asked 100 times before!
I'm just about to change my E90 320d for something a bit more fun. Had a Boxster S previously and now circumstances mean I don't need a frugal sensible car
.
I initially looked at the 3.0si Z4 but can't help thinking I'll forever wish I bought the M.
I appreciate the only way to decide is to drive them so just wondering if anyone had experience of driving both cars and what their opinions are? Going to test a 3.0si on weekend but can't find an M within 60 miles of south Wales to test and compare!
Also anything to specifically look out for when viewing the M? Im aware that a crucial run in service is due after about 1200 miles but any common issues/ things to look out for would be appreciated.
Cheers
Nick

I'd just treat it as you would an E46 M3, essentially the same engine (S54) albeit with a different ECU. So every thing that you would look out for on that (which I'm no expert on but I'm sure there is lots of info available). Other than that they have a reputation for broken springs at about 30k miles.
As already said head over to the Z4 Forum, it's a really helpful community of enthusiasts. I'd suggest an enthusiast owned car that has been pampered and have the desirable mods. Oh and since most are fairly low'ish miles if they have the proper service history they will be eligible for a BMW insured warranty.
Go for it, you'll love it!
