1M Coupe Remap and Insurance.

Hello everyone.
Having read many forums/articles on remaps and accepting all the pros & cons re increased performance/reliability i decided to look a little harder into perhaps having this done to my 1M.
Being a bit of a square i called my insurance company for a quote on a 1M with remap and they simply would not entertain the idea.
Seemed a bit odd to me,perhaps its just the insurers regulations at work here..Royal Sun Alliance.
Im 39,full no claims (13 years plus)protected policy,no points on licence,never been disqualified and have owned faster metal in the past.My standard premium is a little over a grand albeit through a broker.
Just wondered what insurers other owners used and if anyone here is running a remapped 1M that their insurer is aware of and how it affected their own premiums.
Any comments/suggestions,other than telling me to do it anyway and not inform my insurers as i wont go down that road,would be appreciated.
