My rears are pretty worn now and I've just picked up a front puncture so might as well replace the lot, any recommendations?

I've currently got Conti Contact sport 3's on there but wondering if it's worth a change to Michelins? I don't do a lot of miles and the cars not tracked.

I've got tyre insurance so at least the punctured tyre will be free!

Thanks for any tips.

I'm in a similar situation with a z4m. Was reading the evo tyre test and it had the conti 3s in 1st place.

I do think the Conti 3's are good, just didn't know whether it's worth a change. Seems I'll be getting through rears quite quickly!

Go for Michelin PS2 or the new super sports if you can find them. Have had 3 sets on my M3 and love them, plus all the reviews I have read rate them better than the contis!

Cool, might give PS2's a go. What are super sports like in the wet?

I've got Super Sports on my CSL and use it in all weather, don't think they are any worse in the wet than the PS2s that I previously had but do have a bit more grip in the dry.

I remember reading in a review
Somewhere that even tho Michelin Pilot Sports had more grip, they oreferred the contis. Something to do with them suiting the car better.

Had PS3's on my old Evo 9 and cant fault them

Took the car to BMW earlier and they can't get hold of PS2's so I'll have to stick with Conti 3's for now as I need the punctured tyre replaced before the weekend.

Thanks for all the feedback though guys. thumbup

Evo preferred the Contis over the PS2s so i think that's fortuitous

M3s previously came out of the factory on PS2s and now Conti's. This could be irrelevant mind you because it might be a purely commercial/financial choice.

Why would you buy them direct from BMW they will rip you off! An independent tyre place will sort cheaper and usually hold stock!

Yeah but I have tyre insurance so BMW will replace the punctured tyre free of charge. I did get them to quote for rears, £420.00 per tyre! Will get them from my local Indy for £534.00 for both!

I'm guessing you went to either Redhill or Crawley Vines? That explains the ridiculous cost wink

Unless I'm missing something I don't understand why PS2's are being recommended instead of their Super Sport replacements which come in about the same price. I used PS2's for years and loved them but the Super Sports are a substantial improvement IMO.

I believe the conti 3's went against the PS3's (could be wrong?). PS2's sat above the PS3's but were discoutinued in most sizes late last year for the super sports.

Super sports are a big jump up in performance, especially when they are warmed up. Dry performance is meant to be close to the Cups...

Just had them fitted to my Z4MC which has the CSL wheels and have to say way more grip than the PS2's I had on there before. Almost to much grip even. Have Conti 3's on another car and they are not as good in the dry, but wet weather they are v similar.

If people are struggling to get super sports, Event Tyres can easily get them in.

Another vote for super sports from me. Got them all round and they are fantastic in wet and dry. Quite a bit better than the PS2s I had on the car when I bought it.

Not tried the contis though.
