My rears are now well and truly shot to pieces so I'm looking at a decent replacement.

Currently running Michelin PS2's but at £330 a corner I'm wondering if anyone has experience of the Falken 453 or the Vred Ultrac Sensata - both around £200?

Plenty of places still stock them...

There's a new Vred that's supposed to be excellent - not sure if it's with the tyre shops yet: Ultrac Vorti; supposedly has a different tread construction for the fronts and rears, with narrower fronts being focussed on rain dissipation and the wider rears on grip/traction, 285's in this case.

Have you found Vreds in the correct size?
I couldn't when I looked about 4 months ago and I didn't want to put odd sized tires on.

Stick to the PS2s...they make a massive difference to M5s.....and they last fairly long too.

I wouldn't touch the likes of Faulkens etc

The new Vreds come in the right size I believe. Somebody else told me they do, but I haven't checked them yet.

Vreds are excellent and are a real bargain from the right dealer. I used them on my RS6 with excellent results and will be fitting them to the M5 when i get back from LM24.

I can second Vreds after having them on both a Noble & Z4M (OK not an M5 but still high performance cars). They're a little noisy and pretty hard compound so take a while to get to temperature but great tyres and nothing matches them for the price IMO.

What about Continentals? The last pairs of rears I had fitted cost a smidge over £500 via Kwikfit.

Here to third the Vreds'. Had them on Cayenne Turbo and they will be fitted to my M6 in a few hundred miles. Previously had them on an S3 also and they are excellent tyres.

If theres a single thing Ive learned from owning a few bmws, is that they are very sensitive to different tyres and M cars seem to be even more sensitive in this respect.

If it was me Id only stick to OEM issue.

Used Vredestein on my E39 M5, excellent tyres, as already stated a little noisy but better than many. Also had Falken 452 on it brand new when I first bought, OK for a short while and then turned to play dough, have never understood what people like about them! Currently running Conti 5p on a well modified 335d, these are superb tyres although again not the quietest.
