e39 m5 vs e46 m3

just trying to work out what is the better car as i want to swap soon and my uncle has a e46 m3 convertible with full ac stuff on and 400bhp with a smg2 gearbox. now it felt quite quite and ok in side but didn't feel that much better than my old e46 330 convertible m sport and that was a bit crap and very unreliable which put me off bmw's to be fair. now i really fancy a v8 and having about 7k-10k i fancy a fast practical are as i have a 2 year old son so need a bit of space but its a second car so fun is the main key!
whats actually faster and a better drive and easier to run as a second car cost wise and the has a sense of occasion?
it will do 5k a year at most and most the driving is town/light back road use.
so where would your money so 10k e46 coupe manual or a mint 7-10k e39 m5?

My thoughts exactly. Intakes/exhausts/remap/minor bits and pieces etc. might just about get you to 370 if you're lucky. Similar on Z4Ms. Most tend to save for a supercharger or spend the money on handling/brake upgrades.Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
