Friend of mine in Dublin did it - it sounds fantastic, you'll wonder why they didn't send it from the factory like that. I was looking at E92's and it's the first thing I would have done to it. Very easily reversed too if you don't like it. But you will!

i saw the video - loved the sound - spoke to btb exhausts about it - going to get a spare back box for them to modify so if i dont like it i can do v.quick retrofit to standard. aim to have it done in next couple of weeks - will post video and costs when done

they used to do this kind of mod on group n rally exhausts when homologation meant use of standard parts

I may well be taking mine to a local exhaust place to get this done on Saturday. Quoted £136.

blimey thats cheap - i want to get a spare back box - so there is no evidence of weld and the fact that retro fit is super quick process - so i am gonna pursue my route - but have an e90 and have been told after i found an e92 back box with link pipes that the box and/or the link pipes are different to those on e92/e93 according to vendor. report back when you get it done - it should motivate me to get on with it

As far as I'm aware the the only difference is the length of the exhaust tips.. on the E92/E93 M3s they are supposedly longer than those on the E90 M3s

oh ok - thanks for that - i got the impression it was the link pipework behind the box - i will phone a dealer tomorrow to see if they can confirm - if it is just the tips behind the box i doubt there is much of a discernible difference

Things are cheaper up North Ross ;-)

They have just quoted me 3 hours labour - which is probably about right.

If I don't like it I guess I can get it reversed or pick up a secondhand one off ebay - there seem to be a few on there.

Having the same discussion elsewhere.

I'm having this done next week and the plan for me is to take the car to my local exhaust place, they're a known local company who have built exhausts for cars for years.

They are going to open the silencer and then wrap all 4 perforated pipes with "exhaust wrap" which is a special tape that they use to fix holes in exhausts. It's about £5 a roll from Halfords so 4 should be more than enough. The tape cannot be removed once fitted so it's a one way ticket, if I don't like it I'll have to buy another silencer off eBay and fit that.

Brings the time of the job down by a lot, open the silencer, wrap the tape, wait 2 hours for it to set, weld exhaust back and refit.

£150 tops and the exhaust is going to sound just like I want it to :-)))

Does someone know if anyone is doing this mod in the Hertfordshire / Buckinghamshire area? For the cost this could be the best mod ever for the car.
