My M6 2006-2012. Goodbye - we had a great time
Discussion
Sold today. I was not driving it due to travel and owning other cars. I did a factory pickup and had it delimited at Hartge the same day, ran it at the Ring, Mosport in Canada, and the Tail of the Dragon in the US among other places. Total milage covered was 20,500. Reliability was very good with only one major failure ( ECU) which was replaced under warranty> The car has little deterioriation:

...both cars delimited. On the back run he hit 337 km/h GPS indicated. . You just have to do these things. My mate is a local German and I wanted to have some space between us. He knew the road intimately and I did not. I have v-maxed other cars on that strip since. RS.1 I ran to an indicated 315 and it was scary...lifting at the front and a sense that the slightest mistake would be terminal. The RS.2 was no faster but hugely table, though not the sense of a casual drive in the country you get at 200MPH in an M6. When I bought the car I had seen an article about MArk Webber driving an M5. I had a chance to sit down with him at a GP just after than and asked him about it. His comment was " You're going a lot faster that you think, mate. The M5 does not intuitively give you feedback as to how bloody quick it is". No truer word was spoken.
Looks lovely mate, I had one a few years back and it really did redefine what a "fast car" was. All these people on here talk about cars as being fast and until you drive an M5 or M6 at illegal speeds and above the 5K rpm in every gear you don't appreciate it at all.
That video shows just how capable they are at high speeds.
Glad that you enjoyed it!

Good to see it drinks like a V10 too, in that vid in 4 minutes you used an 1/8th of a tank! That is the main reason why I am so hesitant on an M5/M6, the fuel costs.
Any performance car running at over 200mph in 4 minutes will drink like a supercar! You don't buy an M5/6 if you are worried about fuel and running costs.Contigo said:

Driven sensibly on a highway at say 70mph I get about 18-20mpg. On the Ring, driven hard...I got about five laps a tank
...However, as an occasional to it does not matter much.RDMcG said:

I get 18-20mpg on my touring M5 so yes I'd say that's about right. Five laps sounds about right as no doubt it will be in single figures most of the time. What time did you get on the ring and did you run with the traction off?
...However, as an occasional to it does not matter much.
