Folks,
the M6 is telling me it needs a "microfilter" service.
To keep to the rules of my BMW Warranty (Mondial) do I need to have this done with a main dealer and, if so, can I provide the parts myself or not?
Oh and what sort of moolah will it cost me?!

Did a search but not much came up.
Thanks.

You can easily replace the filters yourself, then reset the CBS system.

Thanks. I wonder would it affect my Extended Warranty though... Seems like it takes about 2 minutes in total!

I'd do it myself. For anything to be an issue they'd have to prove that it was the microfilter that lead to the warranty claim.

I'd sell you one from my ebay shop but the warranty situation means you'll have to buy one direct from BMW although you can fit it yourself in 5 mins.

Keep the invoice handy with the paperwork if they get funny. You can also turn the light off too though idrive menu.

As far as I know you can use filters made by approved brands like Mann ect who supply to the manufacturers.

Possibly. I know Mann do supply German brands. However, certain filters or brands may not be on the 'approved' list.

If Comline or Riese were accepted I could supply CARBON microfilters for only £24.99

As far I'm aware there is no "approved list" for non BMW parts, there is for engine oil. I think you need genuine microfilters to be 100% safe. This is based on working for a main dealer for ten years.
