I apologise for bringing this topic up again but I could do with a little bit of specific info regarding contact with BMW central.

I have had my 2002 '52' plate (just less than 10 yrs old) for a check up today and was shown a very small start of a crack ( this could only really be seen via a very zoomed in boroscope). The technician seemed to suggest it was something and nothing but look into contacting BMW customer services to ensure they are aware of the issue.

Ideally I want the new subframe paid for in full by BMW rather than a repair but am interested to hear from anyone who has any experience of this issue and in particular experience of contacting BMW and the angle from which is best to come from, who to talk to and what to insist upon, I.e is the general accepted outcome a fully paid for repair/replacement? Or just a contribution from them towards the repair?

I should add it was a reputable BMW specialist in the area who looked at it today who I fully trust.

Thanks and any info regarding this subject would be much appreciated..

Get over to M3cutters for plenty of info on this subject. There appear to be better garages to take these sort of issues to, but if your cars modified you might like to put it back to standard especially in the area of brakes and suspension. Hope it works out for you.
