Afternoon all,

I have been having problems with my M5 for the past week or so where it has been juddering in 1st and 2nd gear when pulling away. Also a bit clunky when changing down.

It went to the dealers today who have said that it is the clutch and possibly the clutch and fly wheel.

I have a full warranty on it but they say these parts are not covered. My concern is that the car had a new clutch and fly wheel at 33k miles. It has now travelled 55k, BMW are saying that these parts only have a two year warranty but surely they should last longer than 22k miles?

Any advice greatly received.

I would have the values of the clutch wear read.

They have the same issues with E46 SMG, apparenlty plenty are changed when its not really needed. Juddering = change to BMW, may not be the case.

Try an M5 forum to get the clutch change value. Think the M3 is if its under 200 its dead.

Do you set off from 2nd, i.e is the gearbox in setting 1?

Does it do it all the time?
Only when warm?
After a hard blast?

Oh and mine got clunky and juddered for a while after i did a reset, then sorted itself. (pull both paddles towards you when in neutral and travelling)

I get a slight judder for the first takeaway from standstill after i have used it pretty hard in S6. After that its fine.
