This morning I walke out to the car and for the first time ever found myself not looking forward to starting it up and pulling away. In fact, I felt so odd about it I took the wifes car instead.

I worry that overnight I have suddenly fallen out of love with the M5, I have no idea why, what a strange morning and I wonder if it will pass?

Why not rent a diesel fiesta for a weekend? That will probably cure you for life smile

I kind of did that. Had an 05 M5 with all the toys got rid due to business expansion then year later looked for new toy and the only thing I kept going back to was another M5.
I don't think I will ever sell it.

Thanks chaps. This is my 3rd M5 and having left the fold I have returned twice before so I understand that the grass isn't always greener.

But having slept on it, I think that the time has come for a change. Now trawling through the classifieds looking for something that peeks my interest.

A quick tunnel blast with the windows and roof down in M button mode will soon bring that love back!

Just to echo a few other comments drive something normal (slower the better) for a few weeks.

I recently bought an 04 Ford Transit which I love to bits and drove that for the first two weeks. Getting back in the CS was absolutely incredible - my brain completely reset and the //M felt every bit as special as the first drive smile

Ok so an update.

Have decided to change, budget up to 40k or so, must be fun to drive and not stupid in terms of running costs. Number of seats/doors not important, oh and must be reliable - I buy cars to drive, not park in the garage, so it will be a daily driver

So long list narrowed to a short list;

Modern stuff;
- GT-R
- Ferrari, choice between 360, 355 and 456
- Jag XKR
- 911 TT
- Lotus Evora

Have also developed half an idea about something a little older which would be different such as;
- Lotus Esprit, one of the last with the V8
- Escort Cosworth (possibly a Sierra??)

This may turn out to be nostalgic rubbish though!!!

Have I missed anything? Been on the phone to various dealers today seeking test drives over the coming days.

One I would not rule out is either the Maserati GranSport or the GranTurismo.

Both stunning and if a Fezza is on your list then I'd go for the newer Maserati's over an older 360.

Yeah, as late and low mileage GranTourismo as you can get. Epic sound and lovely to the eye. Not the fastest car ever but that sound...........

GTR always held my attention, lots of road prescence but servicing required every 6 months...
