Had a short thrash with a 1M on the A10 between Wadesmill and Buntingford yesterday. Looked great and was seriously quick. Suspect some electronic doping going on.
Faster than a CLK Black Series in a rolling drag race
Going to be a classic if it isn't already
Might be aussieinlondon with his tweaked car.Faster than a CLK Black Series in a rolling drag race

Maybe, but I think Terry is based out towards Southampton.
Whoever it was, to be quicker than a C63 Black I would imagine that it was certainly remapped.
Not mine, but a remapped 1M would have a far superior torque to weight ratio than the Merc., but I wouldn't have thought it would have beaten a black series. I actually really want a C63 Black series with full aero and track pack Whoever it was, to be quicker than a C63 Black I would imagine that it was certainly remapped.

Oh and a serious lack of traction, little yellow lights blinking all over the place or plumes of smoke from the rear tyres.
Compared to its predecessor in my garage its just not floating my boat.
From everything I've read about the 6.2 litre V8 that various AMGs use I expected so much more from it.
OK, its never going to match the V8 in the back of a Scud but its so much less exciting than the flat 6 in the GT3 too and certainly the M Power V8 in M3s. Just doesnt spin explosively to the red line like those engines do.
The black doesn't really seem to know what its trying to be. Its too heavy and hampered by its slushbox for track work and the Recaros and lack of rear seats compromise it as a DD.

Ha, Well you can have mine. Its a fine car in many ways, looks great , handles well and has that great big AMG V8 but its ruined by its gearbox. Such a disappointment tbh.

I had a car like that once, a MKV Golf R32. Big engine for the car (3.2 litre V6) but it was nose heavy, didn't really handle, thirsty and actually not very fast (only 247bhp). It's only redeeming feature was that it did sound quite nice. Oh and a serious lack of traction, little yellow lights blinking all over the place or plumes of smoke from the rear tyres.

Anyway back on topic, like Terry I'm surprised that the 1M had the legs on your AMG as I would have thought it would have been the other way around. Mine in gear does feel strong, but then I've only got a few cars to compare it to. Probably the closest in terms of delivery was a 997 Turbo that I drove a few years ago. Other than that I've been driving Elises, Exiges and Caterhams which don't have that "in gear torque wallop".

Same engine as the gallactic emperors TT, pretty useless to drive but gurgles away and sounds great.Edited by ChrisBuer on Friday 7th September 08:33
Interesting comment on the AMG, one of my friends has an E55 and an SL63 and when the accelerator is planted on either of them the electronics usually interefere and they don't react quickly in the way that an M car does.
