I have had my M3 for a couple of months and had something weird happen, I pressed the "M" button and I noticed on the dashboard that I had gained another light labelled "MDM" a quick Google told me what this was, but why did it appear? as quickly as it appeared now its gone, what's going on??

Did it disappear when you turned off the M button?

If its anything like my M5, MDM is just "M Dynamic Mode" and is a particular setting for the DSC, but I believe it can only be switched on via the M button. If you go into the iDrive you should find settings for the M-Drive in there and you can tell the M button which DSC mode to use. It'll be set to use MDM at the moment.

AFAIK, MDM is like having the DSCon, but with slightly more tolerance before it kicks in, so you get to have a bit of fun without the DSC being a nanny, but without having it off altogether and wrapping it around a tree.

MDM is M Dynamic Mode. It is a more relaxed setting of DSC, allowing you to really push it hard to the limits without the DSC cutting in.

You can change the settings in iDrive to have it turn on or off when you press the M button.

If you haven't seen it before when you have pressed the M button, did you use your spare key?

The spare key could have different settings programmed for when the M button is pressed.

thanks chaps, the spare key sounds plausible, so each key remembers its settings then, doh!

I'll double check tomorrow smile

I found it, turned it on, but then it went off, as I have mentioned lol!

Tried mdm tonight and was quite disappointed with it, gave very little away, still very intrusive, I guess it's everything off or nothing!
