Hi All,

Brand new member to these forums but not forums in general (used to own evo's so a medium sized petrol head) :-)

I took a white M3 for a test drive last weekend (E92) Manual with I believe 18" wheels (nice silver ones). It was an AUC and the dealer said per corner the tyres are approx £400 which was a slights shock, sure I could get these cheaper?

I am looking to lease / PCP and wanted to here forum members feedback on current deals and what deal they obtained and were happy with.

Ideal car would be:

E90 or E92 2008 onwards
White
DCT
Black or cream interior
<40k miles
£500 - £550 pcm
0 deposit
PCP - 4 yrs 15k miles
HP - 2 yrs 15k miles

Optional nice to have

Bluetooth
Upgraded stereo
MP3 capability

Some questions on M3:

Do they all come with cruise control?
Can I ask the dealer to upgrade the Idrive to sort out any DCT issues if there are some niggles with the older versions?

General questions:

Do you think my budget and expectations are too high, could I get into a 2008 for this much per month?
Any great finance companies out there you know of that could help?

These forums are great, could do with a sticky for M3 E9x buyers guide - thanks to anyone that takes time out to respond and have a great week!!

Dave

Look for thread on PCP. IIRC you can get a new one for that money.

I'd be surprised. Not spec'd up on a personal lease (op - business or personal?) at 15k miles. I think BMW are starting to quote from £565.00 for a base car at about 8k miles pa.

I'd say your budget is realistic, you should be able to pick up a late 2009/2010 car with sub 20k miles and decently spec'd for £550.00 pcm.

As quoted above, have a look at the PCP thread.

Cream is not a standard interior colour so will be hard to find, unless you mean bamboo? Bamboo is also rare. All M3s come with cruise control. I suggest you review what is standard at bmw.co.uk - there is plenty. Tyres are not £400 a corner even for the best Michelin PSS. You can find the rears for around £300 and the fronts cheaper. Go to M3cutters for a buying guide in the E9X section. I am selling my car on the site. Idrive is not linked to DCT. But yes you want the latest DCT gearbox software as only with the very latest release have BMW finally got rid of the lag and also the delay when going from drive to reverse and back again. Any indy with autologic can apply the latest firmware. I've just had mine done and it takes about 15 mins.

I was offered 4k off a 46k example and the service pack thrown in with minimum negotiation.

Dude to be fair, a personal loan for about 20k would probably run you around £500 per month over 5 years.
Then you can sell the car at anytime and clear the outstanding amount if need be.

Then you will actually own it at the end of the term..... i suppose it depends on the terms of HP or whatever.

Have a look on here, what 20k will get you.

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses, I did see the lease thread but became totally lost in the arguments. In my opinion I only ever want to rent a car, I never want to own one. Even when I do PCP contracts I never buy it at the end so in effect I am only renting it then also. If I take out a loan when I come to sell I need to pay off the loan and again only end up in effect renting the car (no equity due to depreciation). It is a different matter if you are paying with case i,e, a lump sum down to get the car in a deposit form etc. You will want your money back - I get that, however not sure why there was a huge debate on leasing pro's n con's, for me its a simple.

I am looking for a personal contract, the problem is I have an XF I need to part ex, so is BMW direct the only way to do this? I love my XF but is like a comfy slipper, I need an M3 now I have got the bug :-)

One problem I have noticed is that dealers just use glasses guide and that results in negative equiity with my car. Any ways round this when chatting to a dealer?

Yo,

I wasnt getting into the whole debate on buying vs leasing, because leasing is actually cost efficiant right now for the new M3, if you were considering buying new and leasing new, then the lease payments actually seem to be lower than the amount you would lose on depreciation.

But thats away from the point.

My point is that you are buying the car for 20k paying 26k in loan interest, and at the end of your term you have a car worth probably 12k. This is over 5 years ish.

However! taking into account the fact you would be paying 17k for the price of the lease over 3 years and you could change at the end of 3 years, its not really to be sniffed at if you change your car every few years..... like i do.

I would just try to sell the Jag privately and use the cash. There are other people that do lease deals, but they might be going direclty through the BMW one.
I just did a google search car leasing in the UK, plenty have the M3 at around the £500 mark per month.

As for negetive equity, they will use whatever they value the car at to clear as much as possible, and could add this back onto your bill at the end.
Depends how they value your deal i suppose.............. in effect you still pay the same price, but they may structure the deal so that you get more for your car instead of a discount on the cars price.

I would 100% look into leasing a new car for the 3 years instead of the HP.

OP, is the Jag under finance? Will a private sale make enough to pay off the finance? You might just have to take a hit if you want a change.

I have a personal lease deal with BMW finance and found the rates very good. With my man maths I believe that I'm paying about the same in lease payments as the car is depreciating.

As I mentioned before, I'd be surprised if you could get a new M3 on a personal lease for £500pcm. Those quotes are pre VAT on base spec cars with 8k pa mileage. I think for a new CP/DCT/some toys on a personal lease you'll be looking £650-£700pcm, happy if someone proves me wrong though!

There are plenty of sub 20k mile cars on AUC you'll pick up for £550pcm though. Just get on to your local dealer, tell him what you want and how much you'll spend and see what they come up with.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for responses....

I just made contact with my local dealer and will see what they can do for me. Previously when I financed cars I played one finance company of the other, interestingly they all kept the same APR but the costs came down as I went along, so there are definitely margins they can play with.

I will keep you posted if I manage to sort something out, great forum - cant wait to own one!!
