My //M3 has just sailed through another MOT with flying colours, and I noted with interest that since the test the previous year I'd only travelled 2900 miles in the car.

It's become very much a weekend toy, and only used occasionally, or for the odd trackday.

Does anyone have any experience of getting a limited mileage classic policy on an E46 M3, or any car of this kind of vintage ~ mine is an '02, and just over 10 years old if that matters.

How do such policies work for track days, where the policy wont cover the car and arguably the mileage shouldn't be part of the total accumulation.

Also, what are these kinds of policies like with minor mods, named drivers, and European EU travel?

I've got my 2002 M3 on a 'Collectors' Policy with Adrian Flux , mileage is restricted to 5K per annum , not a problem for me since the car generally does less than 2K per annum , current total mileage is 29,000 .... not excessive for a 10 year old car !!!
