Hi I got a hypothetical question which would you choose and how do these cars compare to drive for a one weekend road trip of about 600 miles from London to Yorkshire and to London :-) ?

2006 56 Plate M3 CS Coupe with a BMW Manual Gearbox
2012 62 Plate Boxster with Porsche Manual Gearbox

Is my 30th birthday on Friday and am planning a road trip. Was going to take my beloved M3 CS and finally on its first road trip. However, in 2010 I won a charity auction prize for the Boxster with a Porsche Manual Gearbox and was contemplating finally taking up the prize. Was also a bit worried about getting salt on my M3 CS and putting too many miles. Currently has 33400 miles. I bought it in July and is the realisation of a long dream since I was 17 in 1999.

I feel so excited I just found out Porsche can give a Boxster for this weekend. A little gutted cant take the M3 CS but to be honest I didn't really mind which.

Anyway so which would you take and how do the driving experiences compare :-) ?

I feel so blessed WOW ....

PS I think is just a Boxster not a Boxster S ....

Thanks very much :-)

I think you've answered your own question.

Keep the CS tucked away and rag the nuts off the Cockster. biggrin

(Pedant) if your actually going to do it, it's not hyperthetical (/Pedant)

What about an M3 with a Porsche manual gearbox and a Boxster with a BMW manual gearbox?

Or either but with a Ferrari manual gearbox scratchchin

Shame that there is no option to get either with a Bugatti manual gearbox...

wink

If you don't need the practicality of the M3 then boxster all the way.

I used to own a 3.4S and whilst my M5 is a way better ownership all rounder, the boxster's hard to beat when the sole measure is driving fun.

Gary.

Boxsters's are great....... However it will feel massively down on power compared to the CS.

Take the Boxster anyway, sounds like the CS is a keeper - plenty of time for its own road trip in the future!

First thing I'd do is check a prize I won over 2 years ago was still valid!

Then I'd take the Porsche if available.
