There are only three reasons why the Nav would not show up at all as an option on the monitor.

1) The Nav is faulty or has invalid software loaded.
2) The Nav has no power.
3) The Nav has no iBus connection.

Can you eject and re-insert the map disk?

Hi Harbinder,

I'm sure I have the Mk3 "CD" software discs in my garage somewhere for the nav in an E39. I'm assuming you have the CD nav and not DVD nav? I'm in Warwick, so hopefully not too far from you. Might be worth trying to load them? I'll go and see if I can locate them.................

Cheers
Matt

Hi Harbinder,

No worries. I can't find the CD's, but I do still have the software files on my laptop, so it's simply a case of burning another CD and giving it a go. Absolutely no guarantee it would work mind you!

Cheers
Matt

I have a perfect working Mk3 Nav drive with V32 & 2010 map for sale if you need one. I upgraded to Mk4 unit a few months back.

Hi, i think that is probably a different Simon !
When i bought my M5 back in 2009 the sat nav didn't work so within weeks of buying the car i bought a Mk3 unit off of e-bay then a little while after bought the latest map at the time and it was running V32 i think, i'm not up on all the different versions etc for sat nav, i remember it had split screen facility if required. A guy who lived locally to me had sold his E39 M5 and removed the Mk4 DVD drive before he sold it so i bought that off him in March this year and my Mk3 has been stored in my garage ever since.
I think its worth £130, i'm in Kent which is a long way from where you are i think. There are always quite a few on e-bay so you might be able to find one closer, its probably a bit dodgy posting a nav drive as it could get damaged getting slung about. You need to pay about £250-300 for a Mk4 unit which is an improvement over the Mk3 as you can put full postcode in.

Simon.

Hi Simon hope your well. Yes probably a different Simon.I am unsure as to exact problem with my sat nav , its not even showing up as option on the monitor , I really need to narrow down the problem to the unit itself rather than I bus or software problem. Once I know its a unit issue I will if still available look to buy your unit . I'm bit of a caveman when it comes to tech stuff . Thank-you you for your response I will be in touch .

If it helps you are welcome to plug my nav unit into your car to see if it is your unit at fault before buying it incase you don't actually need one !

Simon that is a plan with no flaws . Sure way of narrowing the problem. I love driving so the drive down to kent will not be a issue . We can arrange something after the festive break. Thanks Simon
