Underbody restoration

Hi all,

Whilst browsing the net last night I came across a few threads where people had carried out a full under body restoration on their cars to a great standard. I know this is alot of hard work, knowledge, time and money but it left me wondering! It would be something that I would be keen to do once a get a garage, which will hopefully be this year at some point.

Has anyone else attempted such a task? I know its a little anal but it would be a great way to rust proof the car for the foreseeable future.

Shall I or shan't I!? Would make a great thread no doubt.

Any advice/comments would be appreciated.

My car by the way is a 53 plate m3 with 55k on the clock.

Seen some pictures of that being done by Redish Motorsport. Looks pretty awesome. Worth having a look on their website, but you probably have already.

Could get the subframe mounts reinforced at same time!

Is rust a big problem on these?

Is the E46 shell prone to underbody rot ? As the oldest M3 is now 12 odd years old. Any key area to check ?
i havnt yet had my one up on a ramp to check the underbody. My car is a 53 plate as well.
