Some scumbag tried to steal my E61 M5 in broad daylight
Discussion
Just had a phone call at work from our obviously distressed nanny. She took our daughter for a walk in the park about 1hr ago, only to come back to see the M5 with the driver's window smashed. Car is parked on the drive, next to a 540i Touring, which still had a Sat Nav unit visible and some other "desirable" stuff strewn around the car. But no, just the M5's driver window caved in. I guess they must have been disturbed as the car is still there... Utter, utter
s! Boils my piss. I moved out of Blackheath as vehicle crime there was getting to a ridiculous level and the plod was doing sfa about it. Time to get some CCTV and gates installed....Argh!

I fear that I will have to park it at my parents (garage) as I fear someone breaking into the house for the keys.
what a world we live in when we can't own cars like this without fear of someone burgling us for keys etc...

Its so piss boiling that these scum bags seem to be getting away with nicking / trying to nick our hard earned pride and joy.. Get yourself a Viper alarm installed it is fantastic, a company called securemycar.com installed it for me as the BMW alarm is crap.. I love the way it gives of a little warning bleep and flash of the lights if anyone gets a little too close, I have my baseball bat near my bed waiting to hear the little warning so I can hopefully beat the scum bags to a pulp before calmly going back to bed.

Be careful saying such things, look at the poor couple oop north getting chastised by the police for wishing the thieves who stole their Audi bad karma.

I guess you already have the updated security so they wouldn't have been successful anyway! Grrr....e600 said:

Im sorry but I have such hatred/anger towards people that damage / steal (or try to), other proples property.
I would bring back birching/ hanging for the culprits.

I really worry for you guys with your pride and joy on the drive, or worse, on the road outside.....total nightmare, eh?
In my Evo days, we had some building work done to the garage.....on the second night that my car was parked on the drive, three f
kers tried to break in to get my keys.....I caught them in the act and what really surprised and shocked me was that, rather than feeling scared or intimidated, I was overwhelmed with rage and disgust.....just as well they took off......they may well have done me in, but I would certainly have got one or two of them!!
People say it's only a car, which is true of course.
But this was MY car, MY Evo that I worked hard for.....they were not having it!!

To be honest, if it means that the lives of any of my family members or that of the nanny are going to be in danger because of an old car, then they can have it. Yes, I have worked bloody hard for it, but it is only metal. Btw, I have a double garage, but what's inside is even more valuable to me. If that was to go, then I would have been inconsolable... At the moment, I am just dreaming of catching the scumbags...In my Evo days, we had some building work done to the garage.....on the second night that my car was parked on the drive, three f

The problem is modern garages simply cannot house modern cars. the only way to get an E61 into a garage is to have a custom built one and that's for multi-millionaires!
My double garage fits the E61 AND my 928 - I am not a multimillionaire. It just happens that I have also a race engine in there at present, which makes parking the E61 a bit tricky for the wife, thus the car was left outside. Cheburator mk2 said:

No it was an overstatement, new build garages are a joke unless you bought an older property that had a decent sized garage. To build your own garage does require alot of mullah though to be fair.I have parked the old bus - the E39 540i Touring in a way that prevents them from leaving the front yard. It is funny, but I guess the E39 is more difficult to steal than an E61...
What really boils my piss is that the plod could not care less. They are coming around tomorrow at 8:00pm to take a statement. I had to go around and ask my neighbours about CCTV or whether they have noticed anything suspicious. Oh, and in their infinite wisdom, they are closing down the local police station to cut costs. Instead, I think the local Post Office or Sainsbury's would open a counter where petty crime would be reported. WTF is that all about? So, I do 140mph on a deserted M-way at 6:00am and I go to jail, steal someone's P&J, oh, the crime may be reported at the checkout, alongside the bread, milk and guacamole...

I'd be very surprised if the local police really didn't care. Most, if not all would be extremely pleased to catch someone of the calibre who were trying to steal your car. Bearing in mind the sophistication of the kit they will probably have you could really open up the tip of the iceberg by catching just one.
What your talking about with regard to supermarkets etc is basing police in the community in smaller satellite stations so that they are accessable rather than at large ivory towers miles away.
A slow response to a reported crime is the harsh reality of cutting budgets by 25%.
